Bane of plagiarism

Letter April 15, 2015
In a country where culture of “Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V” is rampant, can we expect universities to produce Einstiens?

KARACHI: Recently, Pakistan has been in the news once again for plagiarism committed by scholars affiliated with the universities recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Plagiarism is rampant in Pakistan’s educational institutions. In a country where professors themselves are involved in plagiarism, where the culture of “Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V” is rampant, can we expect universities to produce Einstiens and Aristotles and the leaders for tomorrow?

The HEC claims that it cannot run plagiarism checks for all research papers. Somebody please open an account for them on Turnitin! Please save the future of generations from mediocrity and become original.
