ISLAMABAD: The federal capital schools and colleges will observe Saturday as day-off. The decision has been taken by Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Khalid Hanif restoring Saturday as day-off at educational institutes.

A notification was issued in this regard.

Back in November 2013, the then CADD secretary Faridullah Khan had ended Saturday as weekly holiday in educational institutes functioning under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) in the wake of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehrik sit-ins that had affected academic activities.

The decision had also affected the attendance of students.

The colleges had to spend a heavy amount on fuel and transportation on the one hand and face low student turnout on the other.

Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA) has welcomed the decision. A former FGCTA official said that the decision would help improve efficiency and performance of the educational institutes.
