SWABI/ HANGU/ BANNU:

Employees of Wapda in Swabi and Hangu will participate in a three-day protest starting April 13 (today).

Officials of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Union’s Swabi division have decided to protest against the proposed privatisation of the state-run company. The decision was taken during a meeting on Sunday chaired by the union’s divisional chairman Imtiaz Ahmad.

Speaking to journalists on the same day, Wapda Hydro Workers Union’s Hangu division chairman Hayat Wazir Bangash said they will also participate. “We will protest against anti-labour policies,” he said. “We will protest outside Hangu Press Club and Wapda House, Peshawar to make sure our demands are met.”

Pesco employees in Bannu criticised the federal government for undermining the interests of Pesco and Wapda employees. This was said at a meeting of employees chaired by Wapda Hydro Workers Union Divisional Chairman Pir Ashfaq Khan on Sunday.
