LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Friday sought replies from the chief secretary, the capital city police officer and the district coordination officer on a petition seeking the implementation of a ban on rallies and demonstrations on The Mall.

Petitioner Naeem Mir, the Mall Road Traders’ Association president, submitted that there was a ban in place on the staging of rallies and demonstrations on The Mall.

However, he said, the government’s failure in implementation of the ban was causing huge financial loss to the traders.

The petitioner then requested the court to direct the respondents to enforce the ban.

The hearing was adjourned till the next week.
