ISLAMABAD: Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) director general Aamir Ashraf Khawaja was on Friday transferred to Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, paving the way for reappointment of former DG Shahnaz A Riaz.

Khawaja has been transferred to AJK Council as a joint secretary.

Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Secretary Faridullah Khan had transferred Riaz to special education department and appointed Khawaja in her place in November last year.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, however, ordered that only the Establishment Division could remove a grade-20 officer and ordered CADD to reappoint Riaz as FDE chief.

On Friday, Riaz came to the office and declared her as the new DG. “I have joined the office as ordered by the Supreme Court. I have also submitted the court orders to the CADD secretary office,” she said.

On the other hand, CADD Secretary Hanif Khalid was unaware of any such development and said that he had not received any court orders yet. “I cannot order her to join the office until I receive the court orders,” he said.

Another CADD official said that the ministry was likely to move the summary for her reappointment to the Establishment Division on Monday.
