KARACHI: Removed from Pakistan’s ODI and Test squads for the tour of Bangladesh on alleged behavioural grounds, opener Ahmed Shehzad is being courted by English counties to represent them in this year’s County Championship.

According to the man himself, the likes of Derbyshire and Warwickshire are interested in having him on board. “I’ve played very little in England, so I’m looking to play County Championship because it will be a new challenge for me,” Shehzad told The Express Tribune. “I’m eager to improve as a player with every passing day and this would only make me better. I’ll play as much as I can before the next series against Sri Lanka.”

The opener added that he is eager to prove himself in the County Championship since if he does well, then county teams would want to bring in other Pakistani batsmen as well, which will benefit the players and the country.

hussain | 8 years ago | Reply Shezad is great talent playing around misbah he's been very defensive & has been put under lot of pressure especially when u have coach like waqar younis who likes things working his way ,,shezad to be sidelined for year is his idea to destroy another talent & use excuses like attitude problem. Get rid of waqar please hes bad for pakistan cricket
Burki | 8 years ago | Reply That's exactly what we need - for our next generation of batsmen to play plenty of English county cricket to help condition and refine their batting skills, build up temperament and learn to bat on fast pitches - instead of playing year around on dead dusty bowls of UAE.
