Anti-polio drives in Balochistan will focus on missed children, the Coordinator for the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Dr Saifur Rehman has said, according to a statement issued on Friday.

Health officials will focus more on the missed children. “A single missed child is a threat to all the district or province or may be the country,” Rehman said. “There is a need to improve the strategy to trace the missing children. Every single child needs to be vaccinated,” he said.

Dr Rehman and UN’s top official in Balochistan Dr Aftab Kakar visited the Pishin district and its polio control room on Friday. DC Pishin Zaman Bazai briefed the coordinator about the anti-polio drive and the efforts for covering the missed children.

However, he said the committees have been constituted at village level to ensure that each and every child is vaccinated. Dr Kakar said a log-book should be maintained at union council level to trace the children missing the polio drops.
