BAHAWALPUR:

“As many as 24 police stations across Bahawalpur have been computerised,” said RPO Ahsan Sadiq on Thursday.

He was addressing a ceremony held at the RPO’s Office.

The RPO said police stations in rural areas urgently upgrades. He appreciated the decision of Bahawalpur DPO Sarfraz Falki to computerise police records.

“Many police stations lack basic facilities and records often get lost,” he said.

The RPO said 72 police stations had been provided computers. He said plans were underway to launch websites. DPO Falki told participants that in the first phase, FIRs would be made available online.

He said soon, other records would also be added to the database. He said muharrars (clerks) had been given a 10-day training in this regard.

He said upgrading police stations along modern lines was essential for better investigations and ensuring justice.
