RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif said on Wednesday that Pakistan Army was fully prepared to deter and defeat any form of aggression across the entire spectrum of threats.

Talking to the troops during his visit to Tilla Ranges near Jhelum, he emphasised that the whole nation was firmly standing alongside its armed forces to root out the menace of terrorism from across the country. “We will not stop short of accomplishing our mission, irrespective of the cost,” the army chief said.

He exhorted troops to fully focus on training and professional pursuits as the strenuous training and highest standard of preparedness in peacetime were the only guarantors of peace.

During the visit, the COAS witnessed culmination of large scale manoeuvre exercises by formations of Central Command in near real environments, said an ISPR press release here. Gen Raheel Sharif appreciated the professional skills and motivation of troops involved in the exercises.

Earlier on arrival at exercise area, the COAS was received by Commander Central Command Lt Gen Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain.

goodDeedsLeadTo | 9 years ago | Reply Threat spectrum is much wider for General Raheel Shareef. so, he should not ignore the threat from criminal & corrupted politicians to Pakistan. Recent, MQM example should open up his eyes to pay attention, to internal threats from economic & political terrorists, & deal with them, with same motivation. His spectrum is limited to conventional terrorists who have recently killed military school children & their wives who taught. Military should go after economic terrorists who have laundered huge sums of money out of the country, they are even bigger threat to Pakistan. Left more than 50 percent population as destitute. country sunk into IMF hole.
