PML-N, PTI sign agreement to form commission for poll inquiry

After months of tussle, both parties on March 20 had agreed on terms of reference for forming the commission

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday night announced the signing of agreement between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the formation of a judicial commission to probe the alleged rigging in 2013 general elections.

“Finally the document has been signed…” said Dar while addressing a press conference along with PTI leader Shah Mehmod Qureshi.

He thanked all members of the political jirga and party leaders for their support, adding that no changes will be made to the agreement.

Qureshi on the occasion said the political leadership of this country had resolved to ensure free and fair elections in the future.

He added that the commission would investigate the 2013 polls, and that the electoral process would be strengthened, which will reinforce the trust of the masses.
