Addressing Power Woes: Ministry official hails LNG terminal
A terminal normally takes around three or four years to complete and become operational
ISLAMABAD:
The first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the country has been built at a cost of $135 million in a record time of 335 days, said a senior official of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. He said a terminal normally takes around three or four years to complete and become operational, but the one in Karachi has been completed in just 11 months. “The first consignment has been added to the national system which will be beneficial for domestic and industrial consumers,” he said. He further informed that 200 mmcfd (million cubic feet per day) LNG had been injected in the system, which will be increased to 325 mmcfd till May, and then to 400 mmcfd.
