KARACHI:

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah directed chief secretary Siddiq Memon to take measures to recover 153 government vehicles illegally allotted to influential persons.

He issued these directives on Wednesday. The chief minister took notice of 83 government vehicles allotted to former cabinet members, retired federal government officials, MPAs and other influential persons. Despite repeated reminders they did not return the said vehicles.

Moreover, he talked about 70 other government vehicles which were untraceable. These were reportedly allotted to 'blue-eyed boys' and, therefore, their record was not maintained. "What are you doing?" said the chief minister to the secretary of general administration. "How can such a large number of vehicles be used illegally? What action you have taken?"

The chief minister has directed the chief secretary to report to him on the matter.
