Asylum-seekers from Pakistan

KARACHI: More than 26,000 applications were submitted by Pakistanis seeking asylum in other countries in 2014. Many more who did not have the resources to escape await the first opportunity to flee the land of their forefathers. Their lives and livelihoods, their property and places of worship, and their existence can no longer be guaranteed. Everyone in Pakistan who belongs to a marginalised section of society must either exit or await his turn to be bombed, burnt or blown to smithereens.

Historians estimate that between the eighth and the 19th century, 10 to 18 million people were bought by Arab slave traders. Saudis must, however, be credited for setting up new benchmarks of slavery. With oil, dollars and petty personal favours, they can now buy and enslave an entire nation and its institutions.

Blinded by the Arab wealth, Pakistan is now showing urgency to spill its blood over Arabian sand dunes. It is incomprehensible how we bend ourselves to become lackeys of those who are the principal architect of militancy in Pakistan.
