Cyber war: Indian hackers take down OGRA site

A war between Indian and Pakistani cyber hackers has erupted. Both sides are hacking each other’s websites. These attacks began with an Indian Cyber Army (ICA) attack — cited as ‘revenge for the 26/11 attack — on Pakistani government websites.

A group of Pakistani hackers, identifying themselves as the Pakistan Cyber Army (PCA), retaliated not out of  any ideological motivation but simply revenge.

The two sides have been retaliating since then, with dangerous tit-for-tat attacks. Sensitive websites, including government owned ones, on both sides of the cyber war have already been put out of commission. And the ongoing cyber war threatens to disable even more.

Important casualties of this cyber war include the website of the Indian Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) and the Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and the website of the Jadavpur University Department of Economics.

The Ogra website (ogra.org.pk) was recovered by the website’s administrators, the Jadavpur University Department of economics (www.jueconomics.in/) still hosts the PCA’s message and the Indian Central Bureau of Investigations (http://cbi.nic.in/) can still not be accessed.

CBI authorities have said they are working to restore the site, which offered information to the public. The CBI’s spokesperson was unwilling to comment on Indian media reports that more than 200 other Indian sites had also been attacked by Pakistani hackers.

“We came to know the CBI site had been compromised Friday night,” the spokesperson said. “It will take us a couple of days to restore the site.”

The spokesperson added that they could not immediately say who was responsible for the attack. However, he mentioned that the CBI had “registered a case” and was investigating the attack. The Pakistani hackers in a message posted on the Indian website said “Hacked hahaa funny”, “Let us see what you investigating agency so called CBI can do” (sic).

“We always get revenge,” the chief of the PCA said to The Express Tribune. “I do this because I love Pakistan and want to do something ‘big’ for my country,” said the administrator of the website where the PCA collective congregates.

Different groups of Pakistani hackers all of whom congregate under the banner of the Pakistan Cyber Army, retaliated for the ICA’s attack on Pakistan’s government websites earlier this week. They defaced the website for the Indian Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) along with some 270 other government websites. The hackers signed their message on the Indian police website: “Pakistan Zindabad”.

I dont know why PCA is trying that they are superior in hacking… I agree.. it is there only job…
but In India any software engineer (u all the count… Dogs are outnumbered by Information Technocrats)can hack it … so..better get some life PCA…..and for all readers here… it is easy to hack any school ,trusty , entertainment sites….u can increase the count from 270 – to 10000…it dsnt matter .. Indians have 10000 times more sites hosted than pakistanis.. so obviously ur result will good ..but only in terms of Quantity… not in Quality…:)..Recommend

The cyber war is going on between the two groups of hackers of neighbouring countries.

Why the US hackers army have not intervened as yet to stop the cyber war between Pakistan and India?

Is it due to WikiLeaks that US hackers are not available to stop the cyber war? Or they are at war with the Editor of WikiLeaks? Recommend

    Dear Hackers,

Please don’t hack government websites, instead hack any other websites who are not paying their taxes regularly. If you want to hack some thing, hack swiss bank website and find who have stored more money without paying tax. just tell to this world this guy is keeping block money and it is in unused state.. like that. Dont play with government and its legal matterrs that will create tension between two contries (INDIA and Pakistan). We want live piecefully in this world. Don’t start cyber WAR between countries this will lead to real WAR beteen two contries. Be carefull.. If one dead that’s all they can’t come back and see their MOM, dad, brothers, sisters, friends andthis whole world. Please avoid ego and concentrate in your work, this will help your country to grow economically. Be a Man!!!

Really? Sounds like a group of IT guys who have nothing else to do. Why are you even taking sides in this? It is simply childish. Just like the little scrimmages that take place between the two. Paks fire to let some terrorists into India, and the IA doesn’t really do anything because they actually care about what is going on. And I completely agree with anonymous (above me). How do you like a country that is still run by the army. Pak is just filled people who do not know how to move forward.Recommend

‘Hack the Pak websites’ was the Indian catch phrase. ‘Hack the Indian websites’ then became the Pakistani catch phrase.

As mentioned yesterday, since the Indians started it, they must now apologize to the Pakistanis. If they cant express it then an implied apology will do like placing a ‘live and let live’ message on Facebook or Twitter. And if that is also not palatable then they should just stop and our boys will get the message. That should clear the air.

    Salams and best wishes.Recommend

If you have some files in a filing cabinet at home or your office, or some other private piece of information, and I forcibly break into your house, and take by force or enter those files, that activity is called burglary or armed robbery, depending on the methods and types of force used. That is actionable criminal action and in the USA, I may use lethal force to prevent such intrusion into my house.

Hacking is exactly parallel to the crime above, and is much more serious. The penalties must be even more rigorous, to be seen as deterrents. This is a global problem and affects every human being in our global economy. This type of “nationalism” is pure evil in disguise & has no place and needs to be stamped out for the poison it is by the UN, Interpol plus every government. Recommend
