Torrential rains: Six die as roofs cave in

Locals rushed to the site immediately and tried to rescue residents from under the debris.

SHANGLA: Six people died and six others were injured when the roofs of two houses caved-in, following torrential rains in Besham on Tuesday night. According to a Besham police official, heavy mud slipped and fell on the houses belonging to brothers Gul Marjan and Gul Taj. The impact caused the structures to collapse. Locals rushed to the site immediately and tried to rescue residents from under the debris. They were later joined by security forces and police officials. The deceased were identified as Gul Taj, Taj Baru, Naseeb Jan, Parveen, Naqab Khan and Begum Yusuf Khan. Seven buffaloes also perished in the incident. Special Assistant to CM for Industry Abdul Muneem Khan announced compensation for the bereaved families.
