Office-bearers: 50 members of JI K-P shura take oath

PESHAWAR:

As many as 50 members of Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) newly-elected Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa shura took oath on Saturday.

The ceremony was held at the party’s provincial headquarters, Markaz-e-Islami, and the oath was administered by the JI K-P Amir Professor Mohammad Ibrahim Khan.

Provincial local government minister Inayatullah Khan, finance minister Muzaffar Syed, Hakim Abdul Wahid, Maulana Mohammad Ismail, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Maulana Hidayatullah and the party’s general secretary Shabbir Ahmed Khan were present among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Ibrahim Khan said the province had turned into the arena for international wrangling. He said on one hand various forces were pitched against each other, while on the other, the endless series of military operations was affecting K-P.

Khan said that the country is also witnessing extrajudicial killings, while superior courts were seemingly unable to protect the people.

The JI K-P amir added the previous Pakistan Peoples Party government and the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz regime passed laws that were against basic human rights. “The recently passed 21st Amendment violates basic human rights,” he said.

He alleged the superior courts of the country were unable to dispense justice and claimed terrorism could be tackled through Shariah law.
