A nine-year-old student was killed, while another five-year-old was injured when a portion of the boundary wall of the Bakar Village Government Girls Primary School collapsed on them on Saturday.

An official of the Kalu Khan police said the two students were involved in a school activity when the boundary wall collapsed and both were trapped under the debris. He added locals reached the spot and pulled out the minors. Third-grader Gulalai, 9, was killed while nursery student Aimal was injured.

He said the wall collapsed as it had been in a dilapidated condition for a long time.

Meanwhile, eight people, including five policemen, were injured when a police van overturned near the Swabi Interchange.

DSP Swabi Circle Izhar Shah Khan said Nowshera police had taken three suspects for a court hearing to Swabi and they were headed back to Nowshera when the tyre of the vehicle suddenly deflated causing the driver to lose control. Five cops and three inmates were injured in the accident.
