Heinous crime: Strangulated body of missing child found

Body of an eight-year-old boy was recovered from a vacant plot near Nowshera Road on Wednesday. The child, who had gone missing the other day, was strangaled to death, police said.


Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought an inquiry report from officers concerned after distraught parents and community members held a sit-in and blocked the main GT Road with the body.


Naeem, a resident of Nowshera Road, had filed a complaint on Tuesday in the Baghanpura police station that his son Faizan Ali was missing. The next day, strangulated body of the child was discovered in the remits of Kheyali police station.


The enraged family and community members held a protest at Awan Chowk on GT Road demanding the arrest of the perpetrators of the heinous crime. They dispersed when SP city convinced them that police will take every possible step to arrest the criminals.


SHO Kheyali Sarfaraz Ranjha said that according to doctors the child was not sexually assaulted, “but nothing can be said for sure till the post-mortem report arrives.”
