LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the terrorists, who carried out the Youhanabad blasts, thought churches were a soft target, Express News reported.

Addressing leaders of Christian community in Lahore, Punjab CM said the terrorists are trying to divide the nation.

“The entire nation is aggrieved over the Youhanabad tragedy,” he added. “I urge the nation to be patient in the war against terrorism.”

Shahbaz said the death of the two innocent victims - who were burnt to death by protesters - should be condemned.

Punjab CM also appreciated the services rendered for the society by members of Christian community.

“Terrorism cannot be eliminated overnight,” Shahbaz further said.

He said the Punjab government is taking measures to eliminate extremism and will incorporate poetry that teaches religious harmony in the syllabus.
