GILGIT: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday remanded a police official and a prison deputy superintendent for alleged negligence which led to the jailbreak in Gilgit last month. DSP Rahimullah and Assistant Superintendent Arif Khan were remanded into police custody for three days by Judge Raja Shahbaz Khan. “They will be interrogated by a joint investigation team formed by the government,” stated an official. The court also sent seven other prison staffers to jail for their alleged involvement in the daring jailbreak on February 27. The incident left one prisoner involved in the Nanga Parbat basecamp attack dead, while a fellow inmate was injured and caught. Two others managed to escape and are still at large.
