She’s one of the most sought-after women in the world, but Irina Shayk says her ex-boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t make her feel that way. The 29-year-old Russian model, who split from the Real Madrid footballer earlier this year after five years of dating, says he wasn’t the ‘right man’ for her. Gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated’s prestigious Swimsuit Issue, Irina says that she has been made to feel ‘ugly and insecure’ during her past relationship, reports Daily Mail.

The fashion icon admitted she previously thought she had found the ‘ideal man’ but things didn’t turn out the way she had imagined.

She told Spain’s Hola magazine: “I thought I had once found the ideal man but it didn’t turn out that way. I think a woman feels ugly when she’s got the wrong man at her side. I’ve felt ugly and insecure.” The successful model is now on the lookout for a ‘gentleman’ in her next partner. She added: “My ideal man is faithful, honest and a gentleman who knows how to treat women. I don’t believe in men who make us feel unhappy, because they’re boys not men.”

Cristiano and Irina split over Christmas last year and he is rumoured to have already moved on with Spanish TV presenter Lucia Villalon. The Portuguese sports icon, who recently celebrated his 30th birthday, released a statement confirming their break-up in January, saying ‘I wish Irina the greatest happiness.’

Irina gave her opinion on what is needed to make a relationship work.

“Both should share the same concept of what a relationship means and the same energy to believe in a monogamous relationship,” the Russian beauty asserted, reports the Malaysian Digest.

Irina recently described her ideal date —  it would include ‘a lot of food’ and an ‘expensive bottle of champagne’ though the star doesn’t claim to have anyone new in her life. An animal lover, Irina was recently spotted seeking comfort in some furry friends on Wednesday when she attended the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City.
