HYDERABAD: The All Sindh Revenue Employees Association has urged the federal government to hand over control of the department to Pakistan Army.

"Their massive corruption is going unchecked in the department," said Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the association's central president during a press conference on Thursday. “The officials at the [higher] echelon are looting [revenue] land in the province.”

He alleged that a senior member of the board of revenue, Shahid Gulzar Shaikh, is using arbitrary authority in the affairs of the department by appointing his blue-eyed officers on important positions.

According to him, revenue secretary Suhail Ahmed Qureshi and the heads of different wings such as land utilisation, katcha land and Gothabad and relief are all non-cadre officers appointed in violation of the Supreme Court's order.

"There are total eight wings in the department and, therefore, there should be as many members and secretaries in order to streamline the performance and ensure greater transparency."

The association warned that they will announce province-wide protests and work boycott at their rally outside the camp office in Karachi if their demand is not accepted.
