SUKKUR: Three-year-old Anchal was safely returned to her family on Thursday evening after an exchange of fire between the police and her kidnappers near Kharore, Machko. Anchal, who had been kidnapped from outside a Hindu temple in Kashmore on the night of November 24, was returned to her father Ganesh Chand, who thanked the media for highlighting the kidnapping of his daughter.

“Everybody in the family is so happy and thankful that they are celebrating the reunion,” said Chand, who believed that the news coverage had pressured the police into taking the rescue efforts seriously.

It was reported that the police had received a tip-off, after which they had cordoned off a katcha area near Kharore and had conducted a raid.

Seeing the police, the criminals hiding in the area opened fire at the law enforcers. While the kidnappers managed to escape, the left behind a hostage, who turned out to be the three-year-old girl.

DPO Kashmore Syed Asad Raza Shah confirmed that the police had taken Anchal into their custody during their encounter with the kidnappers.
