KARACHI:

The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat’s (ASWJ) general secretary for Karachi chapter, Dr Fayyaz, was laid to rest on Thursday. Meanwhile, the police have yet to register a case of the killing.

Dr Fayyaz and his driver, Arif, were shot dead in an act of targeted killing near Paracha Chowk in Sher Shah on Wednesday. The duo was attacked by unidentified persons riding a motorcycle who opened fire at their car as they were travelling towards his home in Orangi Town.

Their funeral prayers were offered at Badar Chowk in Orangi Town after Asr prayers.

On the other hand, leaders of the ASWJ remained busy at the meeting with officials of the home department and police officials. “We cannot disclose our future course of strategy as our leaders are still in the meeting,” said the ASWJ spokesperson. “We want security protocol for our leaders.”
