Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan said Moin Khan's casino visit should no more be a topic of controversy as he clarified he only went for dinner and apologised for his choice of venue.

“Moin clarified in a statement issued earlier he only went to the casino for dinner with his wife and friends,” Shaharyar said, after a meeting with PCB chief selector Moin Khan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Claiming his choice of restaurant was not appropriate, the PCB chairman said, "He has admitted his fault. It was inappropriate for him to have dinner at the casino."

"The matter is now closed,” he asserted.

Further, he said, the matter had been investigated and no further action would be taken against Moin.

The meeting between the two was postponed till today owing to Moin's ill health.

On February 24, Shaharyar Khan had called Moin back to Pakistan from Australia following his appearance at a Christchurch casino before his team’s World Cup match against the West Indies.

Moin claims that he had gone to the Christchurch casino along with his wife for a dinner hosted by a friend.

“In hindsight, the choice of venue for dinner was indeed inappropriate, which has, and rightly so, offended the public in Pakistan as well as cricket fans,” Moin had said in a statement.

Moin Khan's expulsion from the World Cup was not a first for Pakistan at a mega-event.

Shoaib Akhtar was sent home from the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007 after he hit fellow fast bowler Mohammad Asif with a bat.

Farid | 9 years ago | Reply Corruption starts right from the top in PCB and funnels its way down to every single player that represents Pakistan. When the entire country is full of corrupt politicians, bureaucrats what can one expect from people like Moin Khan who is merely a pawn and doing what he is told by his superiors. They are all into this together. Pakistan will never succeed in the cricket world unless the entire PCB is dismantled and built with honest individuals. Pakistani team should be dismantled and players should only be selected based on merit. Currently pretty much all players have parchi from political parties and they all need to be kicked out of cricket world for good. These guys have made a mockery out of what’s left of Pakistan’s reputation in the rest of the world.
Raisani | 9 years ago | Reply Sir is he now milked-washed after having a secret meeting with u? You are the one who called him back at once after his casino visit. In what price he suddenly satisfied you in just a single meeting?
