ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif assured Afghan President Ashraf Ghani that the government of Pakistan and its people will fully support the people of Afghanistan who have been badly affected by devastating avalanches, triggered by severe weather and heavy snow in certain parts of the neighbouring country. In a message to the Afghan President, PM Nawaz Sharif said that he was deeply troubled upon learning of the devastating avalanches in Afghanistan that had resulted in the death of a large number of Afghan brothers and sisters. “I join you in praying for them and their families,” a press release quoted the PM. Moreover, two planeloads of relief goods have been sent on Sunday on the instructions of PM Nawaz Sharif, said another press release. The cargo was received at Kabul Airport by Head of Shurae Panjsher Gen Din Muhammad Jurat and Afghan Disaster Management Authority chief Dr Daim Kakar. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan was also present.
