Slain doctor: PIMS cardiac centre to be named after Dr Malik

Senior cardiologists, doctors and family members of the late professor said he is a martyr and thus not dead.

The cardiac centre at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) will be named after the late Doctor Shahid Nawaz Malik who was shot by unidentified attackers at the hospital premises earlier this month. 


This was announced by Pims chief Prof Javed Akram at a condolence reference for Malik held on Friday at the secretariat building of the hospital.

Malik was severely injured in the incident on February 14 outside the VIP ward of the hospital and pronounced dead on February 20 due to severe injuries Akram said Malik’s death is a national loss and his efforts for the hospital, especially for establishing the cardiac centre, would always be remembered.

Senior cardiologists, doctors and family members of the late professor said he is a martyr and thus not dead.

They added that Malik had dedicated his life to treating poor patients and worked day and night to provide them the best healthcare facilities.
