LAHORE: The court of an additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Sundar SHO on Wednesday regarding a petition filed against a woman for fleecing a citizen by promising to marry him.

Petitioner Qaiser Akbar, a resident of Bahria Town, told the court that he had become acquainted with Ayesha Sitar, the accused, over the internet while he was in the United Kingdom. He said she had agreed to marry him. Akbar said she had asked him to send her Rs200,000 to organise a betrothal ceremony at a hotel in the city. He said he had gone back to the United Kingdom after the duo had gotten engaged in the presence of their families.

Akbar said after he returned, he had discovered that Sitar was already married. He said she had ignored his requests of returning the money. Akbar said Sitar’s family had threatened him. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against Sitar and her family.
