Injured APS student undergoes successful operation in UK

Ahmed Nawaz is now in ICU and doctors say he is out of danger

BIRMINGHAM: Army Public School injured student Ahmed Nawaz underwent a successful operation in the United Kingdom, Express News reported on Sunday.

Nawaz, 15, was injured during the brutal attack on the school in Peshawar on December 16, 2014 by the Taliban gunmen.

His operation took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was reportedly 12-hour-long during which doctors treated his injured veins and installed steel plates in his body to support his back.

Nawaz was then shifted to an intensive care unit and doctors said he was out of danger.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had approved Rs30.6 million for his treatment in the UK.
