ISLAMABAD:
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) launched an aggressive inspection campaign to ensure implementation of its enforcement regime.
The decision to thoroughly inspect the entire supply chain of petroleum products from the storage capacity and stocks with oil marketing companies to retail outlets was taken during two days of meetings of the regulator.
According to a press release, the inspection would be carried out in a phased manner and on a continuous basis. The first phase would cover the supply chain in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa including the federal capital.
The inspection comes in the backdrop of an acute shortage of petrol in Punjab early January, which was partly blamed on the failure of oil companies to build storages for keeping 20-day stocks as well as higher demand after a sharp reduction in prices.
