KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the provincial government is working in complete coordination with the Pakistan Army, Rangers and police to eliminate terrorism from the province.

“The federal and provincial governments and all security institutions including the army are united on one point - end of terrorism and restoration of peace in the country,” he said talking to the media the other day.

He said the decision taken during the apex committee meeting were in the interest of the province. Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif, Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah, PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.

The minister said some media outlets projected that there was a lack of coordination between the federal and provincial governments and the army with regard to fight against terrorism. “The centre and the federating units and the army are on one page to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” he affirmed.

The political and military leadership is united in the resolve to defeat the designs of the terrorists and restore peace in the country, he said lauding the role of army chief in this regard.

“Some self-styled analysts were spreading rumours, maybe because they did not get the results as per their analysis,” Sharjeel Memon said.

Replying to a question, the minister said that the federal government and the army do not want to derail the system and all the stakeholders are committed to crushing terrorism. “Our party co-chairman has proposed inclusion of the army and Rangers officers in the selection committee set up for fresh appointments in the police department,” he said.

The selection committee will ensure that police department gets officials that can help in the eradication of terrorism from the country, the minister said.
