HYDERABAD: A Shalimar Express train travelling from Lahore to Karachi derailed near Daitha, leaving 26 injured, five of whom are in critical condition. 

Divisional Superintendent Hidayat Memon confirmed that "two of the bogies derailed and one overturned when the accident took place."

He also claimed that police and Edhi volunteers arrived at the scene within 30 minutes of the accident after they were informed.

Hashim Detho, a local, was first to reach the site and said that he and other locals pulled out passengers with broken arms and legs from two of the overturned bogies.

The injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital.
