PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court on Friday attached the salaries of Fata additional chief secretary (ACS) and director education for not submitting their written replies in the court despite several notices issued to them in an appointment case.

The directives were issued by a bench comprising Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Asadullah Khan Chamkani during the hearing of a petition filed by Bajaur Agency Government High School’s Principal Khaista Rehman.

The petitioner’s counsel Khalid Rehman told the court FATA Secretariat violated rules of procedure and appointed a BPS-18 officer for the BPS-19 post of agency education officer. Rehman said his client himself is a BPS-19 officer, and the posting is discrimination against all the officers who qualify for the said position on the basis of seniority.

“The court has issued notices many a times to the Fata ACS and education director in this regard, but they have failed to comply with orders and submit responses,” he said.

Upon hearing the arguments, the bench ordered both officers to submit their replies and attached their salaries till further directives. The date of the next  hearing will be announced later.
