Treason case: Hearing in abettors’ challenge adjourned

A one-judge bench of Justice Athar Minallah resumed hearing of petitions filed by Shaukat Aziz

ISLAMABAD:

The government seems least interested in pursuing the high treason case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf and the co-accused as no law officer appeared before the court in Tuesday’s hearing of a petition challenging Islamabad High Court’s November 21, 2014 order.

A one-judge bench of Justice Athar Minallah resumed hearing of petitions filed by former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and former law minister Zahid Hamid challenging the special court order in which the government was ordered to take their names as abettor in the treason case.

Justice Minallah observed that it seems that the government has no interest in this case. While issuing the notice to the federation and former president Pervez Musharraf, the bench adjourned the matter till February 17.
