Two policemen killed as DPO Khuzdar escapes assassination attempt in Pasni

QUETTA: Two police personnel were killed and another was wounded when a convoy of District Police Officer (DPO) Khuzdar came under gun and rocket attack by militants in Pasni area of Gwadar on Saturday.

However, DPO Khuzdar Asghar Ali Yusufzai escaped unhurt in the attack.

“DPO Khuzdar was on his way to Gwadar from Khuzdar when his convoy was attacked in Pasni by a group of militants armed with rocket propelled grenades and other sophisticated weapons,” a senior official of Gwadar told The Express Tribune.

Khuzdar police confirmed that the DPO, who was was traveling with his family, was safe.

The police personnel retaliated to the attackers. More police and security personnel reached the site after the attack. However, there was no report of casualty on the other side.

Pasni is one of the most troubled areas in Balochistan where militants often target police, security forces and government installations.

In the past, the banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed the responsibility for such attacks.

However, there was no claim of responsibility for Saturday's attack.
