RASOOLNAGAR:

A newborn was burnt when a nurse put him in front of a heater moments after he was born in Rasoolnagar.

Rescue 1122 officials took the child to Mayo Hospital in a serious condition.

Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Salhoki Chatha, told The Express Tribune said his wife Sidra went to a private clinic in Rasoolnagar for her son’s birth. They said the nursing staff put the child near a heater after he was born.

They said the baby was burnt and taken to a government-run hospital in Rasoolnagar. Doctors there referred them to the Gujranwala DHQ Hospital and later to Mayo Hospital.

Doctors say the condition of the child is serious. Abbas said he had filed a complaint against the clinic staff. He said after the child was burnt and they had protested against the nurse, they had been discharged and sent home. “They did not even refer us to another hospital even though it was their negligence,” he said.
