Australian Open doubles: Aisam, Zimonjic win opening round

Pakistan tennis ace Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Serb partner Nenad Zimonjic advanced to the second round of the Australian Open after defeating Russia’s Teymuraz Gabashvili and Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin in their men’s doubles match yesterday.

The eighth seeds took one hour and 53 minutes to beat their opponents 6-7 (7/9), 6-4, 6-3 in the first round of the year’s first Grand Slam.

The pair, who had kicked off 2015 with one win and two losses, will next face the Spanish duo of Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round.
