Preserving history: Construction near Dai Anga tomb challenged

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday summoned an official of the Archeology Department in response to a petition challenging the construction of a marriage hall adjacent to the tomb of Dai Anga, a wet nurse of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.


The judge ordered that the official bring the relevant record on January 23. Faryal Gohar had moved the petition submitting that the Dai Anga tomb, constructed in 1671, should be preserved.

She said that according to law no construction work could be carried out within 200 feet of such structures.
