KARACHI:

Following the directives by former president of Pakistan and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, a meeting between PPP ministers (cabinet members) and MNA Faryal Talpur was held at CM House on Monday to resolve some differences.

Though officials of CM House, including the spokesman, were tight-lipped on the development and termed it a routine matter, sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune that the meeting was held in the backdrop of accusations levelled by some senior cabinet members about Faryal Talpur’s interference in issues pertaining to their departments. They said PPP ministers, advisers and special assistants attended the meeting.

Sources revealed that some time ago Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman, minister for revenue accompanied by his father Makhdoom Amin Fahim, held a meeting with Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House. During the meeting, Makhdoom Jameel complained that he cannot even transfer lower-level staff in the department given the influence of Ms Talpur.  Some other cabinet members also complained about the same, compelling the PPP co-chairman to convene a meeting and resolve the issue.

When contacted, none of the cabinet members shared details about the differences, adding issues relating to governance were discussed on the occasion.  “Development schemes were discussed,” Makhdoom Jameel remarked.
