KARACHI: It has been one month since the tragic Peshawar school massacre, but its after-effects continue to reverberate in the country. Rock band Overload recently released a song titled Bolo Na, especially in memory of the children who were killed at the hands of terrorists in the tragic event.

According to the band’s official Facebook page, the song, which was released on January 15, pays homage to all those children who lost their lives last year. “In 2014, we lost a chunk of our future. This is for our parents, our children, for Peshawar, Tharparkar, Balochistan, and for all that we are silently enduring. This is Bolo Na,” said a statement on the Overload Facebook page.

In a video posted on the Facebook page, the band’s frontman Farhad Humayun said, “This song (Bolo Na) and Nimmi Nimmi had been recorded by us almost three to four years ago. We were looking for the right time to release these songs as we wanted them to have the impact we had hoped for.”

He added, “This was not the time to make dance music,” stating that, as artistes, “it is their responsibility to speak about the issues being faced by them and the society at large.” Humayun likened the feel of the song to a “boat sailing on water with the feel that the waves of the water are dictating the direction of the song.”
