At least three soldiers of the Frontier Corps (FC) were killed and four others wounded in an ambush by militants in the Suntsar area of Gwadar on Friday.

According to official sources, a group of militants armed with rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons waylaid the FC Wing 88 convoy of Mekran Scouts that was going to Suntsar from Zahiran check post. Three paramilitary soldiers died on the spot while four others sustained injuries.

“The convoy was carrying rations for soldiers when it came under attack,” an official said. The attackers managed to escape, he added.

Soon after the incident, a contingent of security forces rushed to the site and transported the dead and injured to hospital. The vehicle of FC was destroyed in the attack, he said. According to officials, security forces have launched a search operation in the area after the deadly attack.

Gwadar is one of the worst militancy-hit areas in Balochistan where Baloch militants often target security forces.
