LAHORE:

Motorway Police officials had gained respect for their honesty, courtesy and dedication, Inspector General Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said on Sunday.

He was speaking at a farewell reception in Chakri. “We will uphold these standards at all costs,” he said.

DIGs Zubair Hashmi and Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan, SSPs Farhan Baig, Munir Masood Marth and Abbas Ahsan and SPs Khurram Shahzad and Mian Saeed were present on the occasion. Cheema prayed for the victims of the December 16 terrorist attack at a school in Peshawar. Sultan said Cheema had ensured merit and transparency in all departments of Motorway Police.  “He brought about a lot of improvements and eliminated the VIP culture.” He said the IG had always stood for the rule of law.

“Credit for recruiting 1,000 officers and providing 250 new patrolling vehicles goes to the IG.”
