QUETTA: Frontier Corps (FC) have apprehended seven suspected militants of the banned outfit Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) during a search operation in Chakwali and Shadi Khor area of Gwadar, a FC spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.

FC personnel seized three sub-machineguns (SMGs) made in China, one pistol, two 8mm rifles, one 12-bore rifle and 600 rounds of different weapons, the statement added.

On a tip-off the security forces carried out a search operation near the coastal highway in Chakwali and Shadi Khor.

“FC have arrested seven militants of BLF and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition,” he said, adding that “these militants were involved in the deadly attack on a trailer carrying fertiliser from Gwadar to Karachi. One man was killed and an official of Pakistan Navy was among three who sustained bullet wounds in the attack.”

IG Frontier Corps Balochistan, Ejaz Shahid applauded the FC operation. “Militants who are working on foreign agendas have been targeting the innocent truck drivers in Balochistan. They want to disturb the peace of the province but FC will not let them to succeed in this design,” he affirmed in a statement.

FC will provide protection to the people of Balochistan at every cost and foil such evil designs, Shahid added.
