KARACHI: As many as 44 suspects accused of different crimes were taken into custody from separate parts of the city on Thursday.
According to a police spokesperson, the police force of different districts arrested the alleged criminals in 85 raids and five police encounters in different areas.
The police also claim to have recovered 14 different pistols and a considerable quantity of narcotics from the possession of the culprits. Cases were registered against them under the anti-narcotics act and possession of illegal weapons act.
Meanwhile, a young man committed suicide at Jamhoria Colony within the jurisdiction of the Paposh Nagar police on Thursday.
Police officials said the 25-year-old man hanged himself from a ceiling fan. They added that he belonged to the Christian community and killed himself due to financial burdens. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. A case has yet to be registered.
