In cold blood: Six bodies found in Mohmand Agency

Separately, a body was found in Jamrud tehsil, Khyber Agency.

JAMRUD/ GHALLANAI: Six bodies were recovered from Michni area of Mohmand Agency on Tuesday.

A political administration official of lower Mohmand confirmed the recovery of the bodies but refused to share further details about the incident. However, he added that an operation was launched in the area by security forces on Monday night in which several people were killed.

The remains were initially shifted to Agency Headquarters Hospital, Ghallanai for post- mortem and later buried in Ekka Ghund. The deceased have yet to be identified. The political administration official said the men were between 25 and 30 years old.

In a separate incident, a body bearing torture marks was found in Naye Abade area of Jamrud tehsil, Khyber Agency.

An official of the political administration of Jamrud said the corpse was taken to Takhta Baig checkpost for identification. However, the body was   buried in Jamrud graveyard after no one came forward to claim it.

Earlier this month, six bullet-riddled bodies were found at the confluence of River Indus and River Kabul in Nizampur area of Nowshera district.

Police had said a fisherman spotted the bodies on the junction of the two rivers. They rushed to the scene and shifted the corpses to the police station for identification. However, no one came forward to claim the bodies.

All six men were between 28 and 34 years old and their bodies did not bear any torture marks.

Initial investigation revealed that all six men were gunned down at an undisclosed location and their bodies were dumped into River Kabul.
