PESHAWAR:

K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has issued a notification for the formation of a technical committee on law and order to assess the security situation in the province.

According to an official of the Home and Tribal Affairs department, the committee will also act as a think tank to assist the government in meeting security challenges and countering militancy and extremism.

The official told The Express Tribune the committee will comprise senior minister Inayatullah Khan, Minister for Health Shahram Khan, Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Atif Khan, Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani as well as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa additional home secretary.

He added the provincial police chief and secretaries of health, education, local government, planning and development departments will act as co-opted members.

“The committee’s role is to prepare a robust strategy for peace building and countering the threat of terrorism,” said the home department official.

I agree Mr. Khattak and his inefficient cabinet must resign immediately for their slow response to the Peshawar massacre and for not leading from the front. He is incompetent, lacks imagination and leadership that is required of a leader who has to run KPK, one of the most troubled regions in the world and which is on the forefront of the war on terror. After 18-months in office, and sacrifying 132 childern, he realised the importance of such a basic law and order committee which does not have a technical person on it. Khattak also brought unwanted criticism on PTI and tarnished its image in the recent months for not doing enough on the reforms and development agenda and improving governance. Even a baby step would have got the nation's attention. I demand IK to fire him on moral grounds at least and must take all the responsibility of December gruesome, otherwise things will never stop. , PTI can hide itself now. Please set a new precedence.

CM Khattak, what you can do is to resign along with your no good cabinet and take up minion duties at the palatial abode of your chairman at Banigala. It is because of your rank apathy, incompetence and dancing endlessly on top of the container since August that this tragedy occurred in your provisional capital. Shame on you!
