LAHORE: All missionary schools, churches and Christian colonies will be cleaned up and kept tidy by Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) workers during Christmas days, a statement issued by the company on Sunday said. Separate duty roasters for staff and the waste collection and transportation vehicles have been issued to Albayrak and Ozpak. The statement says 140 churches in the city will be cleaned with machines before Christmas Day and roads to leading churches will be swept and lime will be applied to pavements. Senior Operations Manager Suhail Anwar Malik will head the managerial and monitoring team. LWMC spokesperson Jamil Khawar said the Christian community had called off celebrations in view of the tragic event at Peshawar. However, the LWMC had paid its Christian staff a bonus and the salary, he said.
