Reaching out: 250 informal schools in the works

BAHAWALPUR: Bahawalpur Additional Commissioner Rana Shahzad Saeed said on Sunday that 250 informal schools would be set up to provide education to kiln workers. He was addressing a meeting. Saeed said Bahawalpur had 154 kilns. He said nearly 250 people worked at these kilns. He said informal schools for their children would open by June 2015. He said 14 schools would open in January. Saeed said Rahim Yar Khan had 256 brick kilns employing 600 workers. He said 200 schools would be set up for their children. The additional commissioner said addressing access to education problems in the province was a top priority of the government. He said the Health Department and the Agriculture Department should conduct a survey and submit a report in this regard as soon as possible. He said the Labour and Human Resource Department should conduct seminars to stress on benefits of education for children of kiln workers.
