Three FC officials killed in Bajaur IED attack

KHAR: Ten militants were killed in the ground action in Malak Shaga Nullah on Thursday. 

"In a ground action by security forces at Malak Shaga Nullah near Warwandu Mella and Hossai Nullah 10 terrorists were killed, two were seriously injured while 6-8 managed to escape," a senior security official told AFP.

He said two security personnel were wounded and others were chasing the fleeing militants.

Earlier, three FC officials were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted them in Bajaur Agency on Thursday.

Political administration officials in Khar, Bajaur Agency, confirmed the attack. They added that three FC officials were patrolling in Chinagai Damadola area of Mamond Tehsil when an IED planted by the road side went off. The blast killed the three FC officials Hanif, Awal Khan and Gul Saeed.

Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and began a search operation. The search operation had yet to end till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesperson Muhammad Khurasani has claimed responsibility of the attack.

IED attacks on FC and pro-government peace committee officials have increased in recent times.

On the other hand, Afghan security forces have also launched search and strike operation against TTP militants on the other side of the Durand Line in Dangam district of Kunar, Afghanistan, which borders with Bajaur Agency.
