FAISALABAD:

State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said on Monday that the government was dedicated to public welfare and would continue implementing its development agenda despite obstacles created by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a 220-KV grid station at Toba Tek Singh.

The minister said the grid station had been constructed at a cost of Rs1,759 million.

He said three transformers with a capacity of 250 MVA had been installed at the grid station. He said it would feed four 132-KV Faisalabad Electric Power Supply Company grid stations. He said the grid station would help reduce load shedding in Jhang, Gojra, Samundri and Toba Tek Singh.

He said all power projects launched by the government would be completed on time. Ali said work on a 500-KV Neelum-Jhelum transmission line had begun. He said the 969-MW Neelum-Jhelum plant would be completed in March 2016.

“Imran Khan chose to paralyse Faisalabad, Karachi and Lahore - the lifeline of Pakistan’s national economy,” he said. “Disrupting such economic hubs speaks a lot about PTI’s anti-state agenda.”

Ali said thousands of daily wage earners had suffered in all three cities because of the strike.

He said the PTI chief should wait for next the general election and let the incumbent government complete its constitutional tenure.

“If the government fails to impress voters with its performance, it will not be voted into to power again,” he said.

He urged the PTI chairman to call off his protest and join the government in a peaceful dialogue.
